• S - Stand

• P - Split
• H/P - Split if you can double after split, otherwise hit
• H/R - Surrender if allowed, otherwise hit
• A always stands for Ace

For example, if you were playing 4 deck blackjack and your combo equals A2 and the dealer-up card is a 5 or 6, a basic blackjack strategy would advise you to DD (double down). Holding any other value against dealer 5/6 would advise a H (hit). Each version of online blackjack usually requires slightly different strategic moves, although learning a classic blackjack strategy will make it easy to grasp the strategy for any genre of the game.

Blackjack basics
Blackjack is concerned with just one magic number – '21'. In fact, if you've been to the movies in 2008, you've probably seen the film about Vegas card counters, aptly named, you guessed it – '21 the movie'. Anyway, enough of Hollywood – here's the blackjack basics:

> Form a winning hand by creating a hand value as near to 21 as you can (blackjack = ace + 10 but exceeding 21 = bust!)
> Each round begins with the dealer and gamer being dealt 2 cards

After the deal, you have two basic options:

Hit > Request one more card to boost your combo value. You may hit as many times as you wish.

Stand > Freeze the hand value and wait to see if you have beaten the dealer

Blackjack power-up bets
So, that's the basics out of the way, but blackjack is so much more than the basics! Thanks to three of the casino world's most exciting wagers, the games quickly transforms into red hot gaming and three chances to smash the dealer!

1. Double-down > After you've analysed the first 2 cards given to you by the dealer – you should have a good idea what kind of score you will get with one more card. If you think it could crush the dealer's wimpy hand, then it's time to click double-down. This function doubles your wager, gives you that extra card and then enters you into a dealer stand off.

2. Split > Splitting has some similar characteristics to the double bet, because it also creates twice the table liability during the round. Splitting pairs can be a useful strategy to try and secure yourself to at worst, 'break even'. For example, if you have the skill to analyse correctly, then you can often correctly predict that at least one hand will win, often two!

3. Insurance > Insurance is the way to make the dealer weep! If you can predict when they're about to form a blackjack, click insurance to get paid out for their success. Sweet!

Blackjack strategy for casual gamers

Forget about card counting unless you're seriously hardcore and have hours to practice! Instead, using simply strategic analysis is the way to go, such as the cool double down system, explained below:

Click double when:

> The dealer face card is 4, 5 or 6 and your 2 card hand = 10 or 11
> The house's face card is between 3 and 6 and your hand has an Ace and a number card
Forget about doubling if the house holds:
> face-up 10 or a face
